ULHT Facilities

Laboratory of Experimental Psychology

The Laboratory of Experimental Psychology (LabPsiExp) is the place where experimental psychological studies are carried out. LabPsiExp consists of 4 sound-proofed rooms with light and temperature control, which meet the ideal conditions for psychological testing. This laboratory has psychophysiological and behavioral measures that allow a comprehensive evaluation of various psychological phenomena. Among these measures, LabPsiExp holds two eye trackers, two EEG caps, three mobile electrophysiology sets (HR, ECG, EMG and RR), and one emotion recognition system.

Cyberpsychology Lab

CyPsyLAB is integrated in the School of Psychology and Life Sciences from Lusófona University (EPCV-ULHT), being part of the school research unit, HEI-Lab. The lab supports the development of Products, Processes, and Systems (PPS) in the domain of psychological assessment and intervention. The interactive and immersive solutions developed in the CyPsyLAB have been used in multiple contexts, namely pedagogical, research, and psychological assessment and intervention, offering creative and innovative options to the traditional assessment/intervention approach.

ULHT Facilities

MovLab

With the mission to promote interdisciplinary knowledge,MovLab (Laboratory of Interfaces and Interactions) captures and digitize motions that are used in Life Sciences (human cinematic studies for biomechanics and health) and Entertainment (Animation, Film and Game Dev) areas.

To collect cinematic data, MovLab has a Vicon Mocap System, AMTI Force Platform, RScan pressure plates, Biosignals devises and software as Vicon IQ, Blade, Nexus, Autodesk Motion Builder.

To interact with the information collected, MovLab is equipped with VR Oculus Rift, Gear VR, Autodesk Maya, 3ds max, Adobe CS and Avid Media Composer.

MovLab has strong experience in movement research for health and education, due to their expertise in cross areas of interests (Biomechanics, Physiotherapy, Sports, Programming, Data Bases, Animation, Film and Games) and to the practice expanded on several R&D project

UB Facilities

VR-Psy Lab

This laboratory is located in the Faculty of Psychology and is used by several groups at the center that carry out research on virtual reality applications for the evaluation and treatment of psychological disorders, as well as on perceptual processes. The lab has a long list of equipment, including various types of HMDs (Varjo, HTC Vive, HTC, Vive Pro, Oculus Rift, Oculus Rift S, Oculus Quest, Oculus Quest 2, Oculus Go); eye-tracking systems (Tobii, Eyelink, Fove VR, HTC Vive Pro Eye); motion capture and tracking systems (HTC trackers, motion capture suits); projection systems (hemispherical dome, Barco stereoscopic projectors), immersive sound systems (Genelec), etc.

Event Lab

he Event Lab is also located in the Faculty of Psychology. This laboratory is at the interface between computer science, psychology and neuroscience. They carry out technical research on virtual environments, with applications to research questions in cognitive neuroscience and psychology. Their special interest is the brain’s body representation and the consequences of body ownership. Some of the facilities available in this laboratory are a CAVE (virtual automatic cave environment) 3 × 3 meter room that offers a high resolution environment with stereoscopic vision of a computer created virtual world; Optitrack motion capture equipment with 12 infrared cameras; Intersense IS900 with 6 degrees of freedom; Optitrack facial expression capture equipment with 6 infrared cameras; equipment for measuring physiological signals Nexus4 (Mind Media), Mobilab + (Gtec), gUSBamp (Gtec), allowing to measure cardiac (ECG), cerebral (EEG), autonomic (skin conductance) and respiratory signals; several HMDs, etc.
